What is expected for troop fundraising?
Troop 447 has run the parking at Montgomery County Ag Fair since 1954. This is the troop’s major fundraiser of the year and is required participation by all 447 scouts and families. The parking is run by the scouts and supported by the families. The Fair runs for 9 days. Each Scout is required to participate a minimum of 35 hours. 35 hours of adult support is required per family. Siblings aged 16+ can also help. It’s really fun, so many scouts do more than the minimum requirements. Scouts can earn a spot on the annual Reward Trip for 85+ hours. Scouts also earn SSL hours for the Fair and receive free admission. New family orientations are held each year.
Where can I find the annual medical forms to complete?
Find more information about the annual medical forms on the Scouting website.
How can adults get involved?
Troop 447 is entirely volunteer-based and relies on adults to help support in three main ways:
1) Adult Scouters are committee members, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters.
2) Merit badge counselors are needed in a variety of areas.
3) Fundraising or other support, such as at the Montgomery County Fair.
To volunteer, contact the troop committee chair (troop447committeechair@gmail.com).

How does the troop ensure safety?
Our adult scouters have completed the Youth Protection Training (YPT). We follow the Guide to Safe Scouting and procedures diligently, including gender safety coverage.
Two-deep leadership: No adult will be 1-1 with a scout either in person or electronically
We ensure our adult Scouters have activity-appropriate training (e.g., boating, climbing).
And we engage in inherently risky activities, but the Scouts and adults train and work to mitigate risk and increase safety.
